Recently, I have started to see a funny trend. All of my favorite midsize and small companies seem to be gobbled up. I guess this is a result of the economy and credit squeeze and probably a normal cycle. However, out of the dust, it appears to me that Oracle has been the biggest consumer of other companies.
Just listing the companies in the middleware identity management arena they were able to swallow up quite a few companies including Peoplesoft. I think the biggest surprise to me has to be the purchase of Weblogic. Oracle already had an application server and additional add-ons that it sold.
The question I am wondering is if this is good for consumers? Will the economy dictate the next cycle of new inovative software?
